Getting your staff to use the system
Having implemented a number of systems in companies - business, safety, environment, integrated (see Fitting them all together article) the most common obstacle to successful implementation is buy in. Staff in the Company has to do some work as well as their day job but its only initially how they fulfil their roles now. We have tackled the buy in obstacle and convinced people to use the system by pointing out the following benefits:
- It will save the Company money and identify the source of problems.
- If people need documents point them to the Business Management System (BMS) or similar rather than sort it out yourself.
- Potential clients ask if you have a BMS or similar so it should help the Company secure more work.
- The BMS is just how you run the business and as such is a HOW TO document – useful for training and showing people how to do tasks effectively
The challenge at the end of the day is can you show how you run your business to an outside agency?
