Statutary Redundancy payment increase……….

Our HR expert, Simone Greasley, always has her finger on the pulse and writes:

The Chancellor has announced at the Budget, that the limit on weekly pay (for calculating statutory redundancy pay) is to be increased from £350.00 to £380.00.  The maximum statutory redundancy payment will rise from £10500.00 to £11400.00.  We await a date when this uplift will occur.  This is seen as a one-off rise and additional to the usual annual increase which occurs in February.

You are not alone - More networking insights

Back in February we gave some guidance on making networking work for you and your business. In reviewing various e-mails this week the following quote seemed relevant:

“If a man does not make new acquaintances as he advances through life, he will soon find himself left alone; one should keep his friendships in constant repair” - Dr Samuel Johnson

Opt-out preserved…….

The opt-out from the 48-hour limit on the working week is to remain in its current form.  Conciliation talks between the European Council and European Parliament were brought to an end, when no agreement could be reached.  UK employers can continue to use the Opt-out at the present time.

We will have to wait and see if another challenge occurs when the new European Commission takes up Office in the Autumn.  Simone

What’s the goal?

This is a standard question we ask businesses to understand what they’re trying to achieve. However the answer throughout the business may be different!

This may be reality or may be down to people using different languages (interpretations). In our view if a business is seriously going to improve then it is essential that everyone talks the same language. Phil’s blogs on NVQ’s in business improvement techniques (BIT) explains further and the NVQ’s themselves certainly help businesses. In addition we can help find funding to assist with this key investment.

A breath of “Fresh” air

We’re pleased to announce that Fresh Marketing Solutions Ltd have joined forces with EMS providing much needed sales and marketing expertise.

This is a bit of a first for EMS since previously only individuals have joined us. Having said this the expertise behind Fresh comes from Karen Roe and Kirsty Cambers. We welcome them on board and look forward to a mutually successful relationship helping companies improve and achieve their Goals.

Keep an eye on this page or the EMS site for a link to the Fresh Marketing Solutions site.

More organisation stuff

We get involved in helping companies implement business systems. A common flaw in the implementation is that the Senior Team see it as one persons job (normally the Quality Manager) to ensure the system works. We’d rather like to see the Quality Manager encourage the Senior Team to do the right things to maintain the system and continuously improve it.

Consider that this principle can be applied across the business?
